Each year at our annual meeting, The Idaho Chapter of The Wildlife Society honors outstanding individuals and groups who have made meaningful contributions to the wildlife field. We present three awards: the Charles E. Harris Professional Wildlifer Award, the Randall B. Smith Emerging Leader Award, and the Special Recognition Award.
Many dedicated chapter members — as well as non-members — are deserving of this recognition. Please consider nominating your colleagues and peers by submitting one or more nominations.
The Awards Committee reviews all submissions prior to the annual meeting; completed nomination forms and questions should be directed to Awards Committee Chair, Ryan Long (ralong@uidaho.edu).
This award honors wildlife management professionals who have made outstanding contributions to Idaho's wildlife resources, as recognized by their peers and colleagues. The award celebrates excellence in the field of wildlife while promoting greater public awareness of significant wildlife management achievements within Idaho.
This award recognizes a wildlife professional with 10 or fewer years of experience in conservation, management, or research in Idaho who demonstrates exceptional initiative, leadership, and commitment to the field. It is named in memory of Randy Smith, who trained and mentored many early-career wildlife professionals throughout his career.
This award honors an individual or group that has made an outstanding contribution in Idaho to wildlife conservation, management, science, or conservation education; to the wildlife profession; or to a specific species, community, ecosystem, region, or area of work. Contributions made within the past three years are eligible for consideration.
